2/25/08 Manhattan Rescue 1 MVA w/ entrapment and injuries

Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, NY, 2/25/08

Location: West 55 St and 10th Avenue

Verbal Box: Motor Vehicle Accident involving FD vehicle while responding to a box.

00:13 hours
"Rescue 1 to Manhattan, we have been involved in an MVA at 55 and tenth.  We're checking for injuries now."
Battalion 8, Safety Battalion assigned on report of MVA involving FD vehicle.

00:14 hours
R1: We are extricating a member of the civilian vehicle, no injuries to FD members.
Division 3 assigned on report of injuries.

00:15 hours
Battalion 9, E40 10-8 from previous box, responding to MVA replacing BC8

00:15 hours
Squad 18 is responding.

00:17 hours
BC9: Make sure we have two EMS busses and 1 ALS (Advanced Life Spport) bus assigned to this box.

00:17 hours
BC9: We have 3 aided civilians, no FD injuries.

00:20 hours
BC9: We're going to make this a major MVA.

00:42 hours
DC3: Downgrade this to a minor accident.  We have 1 civilian extracted and removed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, 2 going to hospital for evaluation.  Division 3 is 10-8, Battalion 9 is incident commander.

  Sorry to hear about this but relieved that no members were seriosly hurt. :(  Was this the new Pierce and was it severly damaged?

Not sure if it was the Pierce, but they were back in service not long after so I don't think the rig sustained any serious damage.

   Thanks, I just read on another forum that it was the Pierce but it only recieved minor damage to the left front bumper and the left headlight housing and it is back in service.
