Location: 305 E 50 St Between 1st Ave and 2nd Ave

Description Of Incident: crane collasped into multi dwelling. numerous trapped ( Tower crane onto of 20 story building fell backwards landing on 25 story OMD with partial collaspe)

1429 hrs Batt 8 reports at least 5 people trapped. Request Con Ed Gas and Electric forthwith

1432hrs Batt 8 reports tower crane fell backwards onto building. 1 person removed at this time. 3 others trapped.

FD staging is at 1 Ave and 51 st.
EMS staging is 2 Ave and 50st
All chiefs go to command ch 2

4th alarm transmitted 1521hrs E5, 74, 33, L 9 L3

1523hrs 8 reported missing.... removing at this time 1- 10-45 code 1 and 2 -10-45 code 2

1528 special call 2 additional Fast Trucks L13 L5

BC8: We have a 20 story high tower crane collapsed away from the building under construction onto a 25-story MD.  We have 5 people trapped at the top of the crane.

DC3: Put out another call to ConEd forthwith and have a supervisor come to the command post.  Special call extra  Rescue and Squad, have them respond as close to the collapse zone as possible and report to the command post.  The tower crane was positioned on 51 st, fell south and took out the rear of building on 50th St.
ConEd gas gives a 10 minute ETA, ConEd electric gives a crew en-route.

Note: As of 18:00 hours the incident was not yet under control; however as per Commissioner Scoppetta the incident was being deemed a long-term rescue operation.  OEM, PD, and Department on scene.  Lt. Gov. Paterson reports 1 woman still unaccounted for.  Thus far all killed/injured are believed to be construction workers.

I heard several members got hurt on this job. Is it true and whats their status, serious, minor?

Haven't heard anything about any serious injuries to members.  Most likely just minor injuries.

They pulled the last three out today each about an hour or so apart.

 someone from R1 was injured. was taken out on a stokes, don't know the condition.

I heard the inspector lied about inspecting the site a day before the crane fall. He lied about his reprt and now he's in jail. Did anyone else hear this?
