Rescue 4 in Florida.
I wish to forward this posting on Fire Engineering from the 25th, here's the link.
http://www.fireengineering.com//articles/2012/01/restored-911-rescue-truck-arrives-in-fl.html

Also on behalf of myself and the folks at the Remembrance Rescue Project I wish to give a big thank you! to our Brothers, Sisters and the Firefighting Families in Florida. They have been housing and caring for Rescue 4 since it arrived back in December before Christmas. R4 has attended numerous events and visited many fire departments, most in central and Northeast Florida. The rig is schedule to stay in Florida through the end of April. Please pass this info onto any retirees that may be living there in Florida or friends that you might know from down there. Again Thank You!

On another note Rescue 5 will be attending FDIC in April.

Curious, I know Rescue 4 was at Chicagoland Speedway, brought the shirt. Any plans for "The Great American Race" aka The Daytona 500? You would get great publicity. :) :)

Hey Grump thanks for your support. When you saw Rescue 4 at Chicagoland the graphics and lettering were less than half complete. Since then they have been completed, with the exception of a white Maltese that is on the officer’s side of the front bumper. We tried our best to match the original markings and lettering to its post 9/11 appearance. It’s hard to believe how much work has gone into the restoration, but it has all been worth it. I truly feel blessed and honored to be part of a project that represents so much.

As for Daytona, I do not know all of the details. At the very least it will be on public display in a similar manner as seen at Joliet. I do not know if R4 will be involved in the pre-race ceremonies. At the race in Joliet R4 was to be part ceremonies and was to take laps on the track, until the rain-out on that Sunday. Each track is privately owned and the participation varies with each, in the end NASCAR has the final say. The race in Joliet had great public exposure and was one of our best fundraisers.

There are other large events in the planning for Rescue 4 and 5’s participation. One is the Joint Services Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base in May. There are others which I am not able to share at this time, but hope to in the near future. Thanks for your interest.

By the way good luck to your son in is Fire Service Testing.

The photo on the top was taken at Chicagoland Speedway and the bottom is of the complete restoration. The large Station and Rescue Shields are hand painted. I believe that this was how they were original when delivered from the manufacture. All other lettering and graphics are vinyl. Please feel free to clarify if anyone knows different.

We are not sure of R4's involvement with the race at this time. We do know that R4 will be in Daytona for Bike Week at the request of the local FD's.
