"Ding" over the radio
« on: October 30, 2011, 03:22:19 AM »
I was just listening to the Bronx/SI and i heard a "Ding" noise. What does this mean? Is it put over the radio or is a background noise from the CO?

I believe it's the Decision Dispatchers console "dinging", it's a prompt that there's a run on his/her screen to be reviewed quickly before being released to go out.

If the sound you're referring to is the "ding.wav" that can be found in any Microsoft machine, it's the sound that plays when a message hits the queue.

As an old BFD Buff I monitor radio reference but open other tabs. If I am on nycfirenet and a message hits on the BFD the "bing" goes off.
