Looking for a firehouse
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:55:26 PM »
Hi,
I am looking for a firehouse. I was in a taxi on my way for JFK. We were not using the highway. It was just before or after a large place of cemetery. The firehouse was a single red door located on the left side of the road. Just near, there was a police house or a police accademy because there was a lot of young policemen with claret badge. Does anyone know which company it was ? Best regards, David.

If you were in Queens and traveling east on Metropolitan Ave, the only place possible is that you passed the Queens Communications Garage which looks like a firehouse on the left and then passed the Corrections building  with the new recruits  that usually hang out on the main street during there breaks.  The cementry is on the left and then starts on the right side ...

Again the most important question was asked by G Man...What boro do you thing you were in ..

Gee, this sounds like a typical 911 caller. No clue where they are and still feel duty bound to report what they see and send us on a wild goose chase.

We were from Soho, we have taken the Manhattan Bridge and then passed in front of Tillary Tigers. After we drive in the east to reach the highway but there was too much traffic so we have left the highway immediatly.

Wake 96

I am pretty sure the way the taxi went....When I drive from downtown Manhattan to Queens, I avoid the BQE.  After I get off the manhattan bridge I pass 207/110  quarters and use the back streetsto Grand St then I drive up Grand St thru Brook lyn and contuine on Metropolitan Ave to Woodhaven Blvd, and then go south to the JFK exp into the airport....  When you saw the quote firehouse on the left, was the police cadets on the right immediately following that.     ....The most important is did you see a toys r us and k mart  right after you passed the cadets..

Hello, the cadets were on the right immediatly after the red door. There was a shop on the right with police and/or FDNY tees and jackets in front of the shop.

We have passed in front of another firehouse a moment early. I think you're right with metropolitan avenue.

Another 911 call solved.......You passed 291 & 140 that was on the same side as the red door building that you saw ( opposite 291  & 140  is a donkin donouts )...The uniform store is on the right side just opposite the  communications truck garage and right after that you saw the cadets on the right side opposite the cemeter y

You were passing thru Middle Village to get to JFK airport

If you are heading to the airport on either Liberty Ave. or the Conduit, Engine 236 is on the right in both cases.
