RET FDNY BC JOHN J. MEYERS BN*46.....REST IN PEACE BROTHER ...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BOTH MILITARY & FDNY....SEMPER FI.....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.......... John James Meyers passed away Friday morning, June 28th 2013. He died in New Jersey, driven by Storm Sandy from the comfort of the wonderful home of his daughter Marybeth and Grandson Thomas. He was a star basketball player in his youth, a Marine, and Fire Fighter, retiring some years back as a Battalion Chief. He is the loving father of five children, and grandfather of eight. His loving wife Julia left us all so early in our lives, but he never loved another. He was a loyal family man, always putting his family first. His own father, Thomas F. Meyers, was a decorated veteran who displayed remarkable courage in the trenches of WWI, holding his position under aircraft, artillery and machine gun fire. That courage flowed strong in his veins as well. I have never heard him say no to a need of his family or friends and this circle grew over the years, extending to friends of friends. Our family has learned so much from him about giving and forgiving. We will love and cherish him forever.

In Lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project
