Squad 270 was opened in 1998 along with the other Squads from Engine 270.  They are quartered at 91-45 121st Street with Division 13 and operate a 2000 Seagrave 1000/500 Rescue Pumper with a 1998 GMC HazMat Tech unit.  They respond to first, second, and third due boxes in the Richmond Hill/Locust Manner/Jamaica/Brooklyn Manor areas of Queens and to all All-Hands or greater boxes in Division 13.  If needed they can also be special called to cover Squad 288 in Division 14.

Engine Company 270 Queens started out as Engine 170 on July 5, 1907.
Engine Company 170 was later reorganized as Engine 270 on January 1, 1913.
In Jul 1998 Engine 270 was reorganized as Sqd-270

The only Squad that actually shows up as a Squad in CADS is Squad 1. It's a programming thing. However, when they are turned out by us, and we view them on the dispatch summary screen, All Squads are displayed in reverse video so we know who's who.

It's highlighted. On the computer screen, when a unit gets a run, its numbers are white till it acknowledges the run, then it turns green. I'm going to try to re-create it here.

E270 That's how it looks on the screen. Or at least as best as I can get it. It's white, then when the Squad acknowledges, it is green and the numbers are black.

Thank you 4truck I am working on a listing of rigs and their fire houses and the Squad shows up on one source and not another so I just wanted to make sure.

I thought I remember reading that they got one of the new Seagrave Rescue Pumpers.

This post was written in 2008, when they still had their 2000 rig. All of the Squad companies have newer rigs now.
