"rescue me" giving the job a real bad rep
« on: July 30, 2009, 12:00:27 AM »
I dont watch the show regularly but i caught last half hour of it last night.  All I can say is What the fuck?????? I really dont understand how the job can let such a mockery of us go on national television.  All this show accomplishes is make us look like drunk disfunctional ass holes.  Maybe it is interesting for buffs or out of state guys, but i mean cmon.  Why would the city endorse a show like this????  Again, ive only seen a few episodes, but in the few that i have, theres been shit like a battalion chief stealing money and jewlery from an old lady after a job, and guys wives walking in and out of the firehouse like they own the place.

Not to take away from Dennis Leary, he has done alot for the job.  BUT, This mockery of our profession and our department has to stop.

Rescue Me is in fact international, it is, or was, shown in the UK on Sky 1, to be honest, i like it, because i dont take it seriously and i dont think it is intended to be taken seriously, its all rather tongue in cheek humour, with a serious undertone sometimes reflecting the effect our job can have on FFs and thier own lives, and as all of us are human, how we can all make bad mistakes an judgements in our lives, regardless of our occupations..

Oh, and the women are hot!!  ;D ;D :o 8)
If nothing changes, everything will stay the same..

I've seen this show, and I don't care for it. I even heard one of the actors (Not Leary) was one of those 9-11/Government-Conspiracy nuts. Unbelievable.

That issue is addressed in the show.  The character Franco is someone that believes 9/11 was a government conspiracy.  But that is in the show...if any of the actors are vocal on that in real life, I've never heard of it.

I hear Daniel Sunjata (Franco Rivera) is one of the conspiracy theorists. He is set to Narrate Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup which is a documentary film suggesting 9/11 was a government inside job! >:( :-[ :'(

Jesus Christ. YGBSM. They ought to boot his arse from that show, if that's the case.
