GMC Sierra 2500HD four wheel drive pickup trucks will be replacing Suburbans for EMS supervisors and fire battalion chiefs. The FDNY placed an order for 80 trucks to be delivered, I do not know when. GMC has discontinued the diseal option on the surburbans, which the FDNY perfers especially because all firehouses are equiped wirh diseal fuel.

They will have "caps" on the back so that the truck bed is covered.

So what happens to the old vehicles? Do they trade them in or auction them off? Or are they that beat they just scrap them?

The old vehicles, most of them are kept as spares.

Those are just the stock vehicles right now. They still need to go out for striping and and stuff after the lights and electronics are all added.
