3 Shops destroyed by blaze - Dublin, Ireland
« on: February 12, 2010, 01:49:45 PM »
Six Engines of Dublin Fire Brigade, A Turnable Ladder, a Water Tanker and an ambulance, were sent to a blaze in central Dublin today that destroyed three shops, including a 'head shop'.

The alarm was raised after smoke was spotted pouring into the street.

The blaze destroyed the Nirvana head shop, as well as the Utopia adult store and a souvenir shop on either side of the head shop.

Fire crews with breathing apparatus tackled the fire from the street as well as inside the burning buildings.

A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesman said that five pump vehicles were sent to the scene along with an aerial appliance to enable the fire to be fought from a height, if necessary. Some 25 firefighters were active at the scene, he said.

He said the fire was brought under control but teams needed to remain at the scene for a considerable time. Gardai are investigating the cause of the blaze.

The fire started at approximately 6am and quickly spread to two adjoining shops. Initally there were fears the fire might spread to other buildings but firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control at about 11am However, it wasn’t fully extinguished until about 5pm. The three shops were all demolished.

As for the exposures.....

Exp 1. was a street

Exp 2. was a adult shop

Exp 3. was a rear alley

Exp 4. was a adult shop
