The Aspen Knolls development. Hundreds of lightweight construction attached townhouses. Huge development that is very tight in some spots. Always wondered how the rigs would get to some of the houses in there if need be.

Oceanic and Richmond Engine are in the City Charter (Admin Code).  They get a stiped from NYC direct and are dispatched by us.  New Dispatch Policy?

What's so strange about the relocation for Squad 8? The entire fire department of Santiago, Chile (population 6.5 million) is volunteer.

Oceanic H&L 1 is a volunteer fire company.  How do they relocate to cover FDNY Squad 8?

many of us on this board are always advocating for another chief on the island as well as a few more companies.  we always talked about adding a squad to the island which has finally happened.
I get why SQ8 gets a relocator,  they are in a remote area, if they are a company such as E151, E54,L4  E70 L53, that get an automatic relocator so be it.  But to send Oceanic as their relocator?  I feel this is both taking advantage of one of the few remaining volley companies left in the city,  it is also nowhere in our books that another agency can relocate to us.  obviously in the weeks after 9/11 it was common but for this to be a regular thing is absolutely rediculous   
just my opinion but if the city feels it needs to use oceanic or richmond to fill in an fdny firehouse,  then i think they KNOW they need to add a few more companies

I don't believe Engine 154 was a must fill.  Why does Squad 8 now always get a relocator?
I think it's a smoke and mirrors attempt to put on a show that the neighborhood didn't lose an engine company when Engine 154 was replaced.

The first reason that came to mind on why they had a volley relocate to an FDNY company was that all if not most of the other SI engine companies were busy at the time. Not that far fetched. If that’s the case, they looked to the next best thing down the road, literally.

As to why SQ8 is a must-fill, idk. Something about it being a SOC squad company now makes it different however. Either way, Oceanic H&L definitely had their time to shine today lol. Even Richmond Engine 1 was 10-84 at the AH last week in squad 8’s first due.

Richmond Engine didn’t relocate to squad 8. Either the original post was a typo or the poster misheard the radio. I was tongue in cheek with the new dispatcher directive. It is possible that Richmond Engine said the were “10-8 in squads response area” being that their response area overlaps. They were probably trying to be funny.
As per the must fill, 154 had a very large response area. If they were at a job, might have gotten a relocater most of the time. Probably a deal with local politicians

do you mean Oceanic H&L never relocated today to SQ8? You said Richmond Engine in your post by accident perhaps. Referring back to my post, Richmond Engine was at the AH last week in which SQ8 was first due to. That’s what I meant when I said that. But referring to your post, do you mean that TODAY Oceanic never relocated? I’m trying to clear up my confusion lol.
