Miracle on the Hudson
« on: January 15, 2019, 08:27:55 AM »
January 15, 2019 marked the 10th year anniversary in which a large aircraft landed on the Hudson River. All of the 150 passengers as well as the entire crew survived that landing shortly after take off from NYCs LaGuardia Airport.

U.S. Airways Flight 1549, piloted by Captain Sullenberger, made the decision to put that large aircraft into the Hudson River after a bird strike caused the plane to loose altitude. Not only did he save the passengers on board, but he also prevented that plane from crashing into highly populated areas of NYC or cities in New Jersey along the Hudson River.

As the plane safely landed, the members of the U.S. Coast Guard, NYPD, FDNY, and FDNY/EMS performed OUTSTANDING on that frigid day. I'm sure those behind the scenes, answering the numerous 911 calls on both sides of the river, with civilians telling of a plane crash in the river were quickly overwhelmed in the first few minutes.

Together in a "Miracle Type of Event" in which all 150 passengers survived and what no doubt could have been a huge loss of life became known as "The Miracle on the Hudson". Later a movie was made based on that event.

This is a reenactment of that crash along with actual footage recorded from it.
