Seagrave to take up new contract over KME
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:45:43 AM »
Based off the city website looks like Seagrave have been awarded a new 2000GPM Pumper contract over KME. Included on the website is a statement stating 'Awarded Vendor (KME) failed to meet the terms and conditions of the solicitation'. Can't say anyones surprised.

Couple questions, did KME deliver any of the engines for the contract they just lost ?
Does anyone know what terms and or conditions they couldn’t meet ? Would have thought after the first order spearing to work out and bidding again that they had the process down.

The last KME that was delivered after months ago is assigned to E- 312.  The rig is KP1800

This rig was add-on to the last contract

As far as the contract KME forfitted there were NO pumpers in production and no delivery's were made .

Re replacement for E-312 -- Training was completed on the replacement pumper (KP19001, not KP1800) for E-312 on January 24. The pumper has been returned to Fleet Services and is expected to be released to E-312 later this week. This was an add-on to the previous contract.

Why did this truck take so long to get in service, the city has had it for a while.

HCO....... Thank you for the correction on E 312.  Reg# KP19001 Not sure what the issues are with there new KME.  It's been back and forth a few times to KME.  Whatever the problem(s) were the fix was not easy.  A permanent fix would be to give KME the rig back and add on 1 addition pumper for E 312 from Seagrave.
One of the biggest problems for KME is that since they were purchased by the REV group there is NO TYPE OF SUPERVISION.
When 319s KME was built it took 5 weeks from frame to last bolt

I remember several years ago Boston had a problem with one of the KME Severe Service pumpers and would not accept it. Eventually an arbiter ruled in KME's favor and Boston had to accept it.

Boston had a TON of problems with their KME's, but they were almost entirely related to the Navistar MaxxForce engines used.  Eventually they removed almost all of them from service.
