E-69 gave the 10-75

Garage fire in the rear

Corrected address is (rear of) 248 West 139th St.

Units were coming off a nearby box.

E-35: We're at 130 & Douglass if you need us. MD: remain 10-8. - 14:00

E-35: We hear on the radio reports they have extension in the rear, we're gonna continue at this time. MD: 10-4. - 14:01

B-14: Send us a ticket, our MDT is down. - 14:02

B-12: We're at 137 & Douglass. MD: Continue in. - 14:03

MD to B-14: You can remain in service. B-14: We're 10-84. - 14:03

MD to B-16: Are you 10-84? B-16: 10-4, we gonna use All Hands, give me an extra E&T. (E-35 & H&L-40) - 14:04

E-84: We're 10-84 at box 1587. - 14:05

D-6: 2 L/S/O - 14:12

If the dispatcher says remain 10-8 you should remain in service. Self dispatching creates chaos on the road and fire ground.

I agree. Seems like lately there have been a few incidents where dispatchers orders have been totally disregarded by (overzealous?/"insubordinate"?) company officers  Not a good thing....

I know on the PD a dispatcher has the authority of like an Inspector.

I remember hearing that FD dispatchers had authority of a DC.  I can't confirm that.  But I'm sure one of our dispatchers on this site knows the real regulations.

hard to imagine that those units wouldn't be relocating a little more often than normal

This is interesting because i do not know the Rank Structure of Dispatchers on either the NYPD or the FDNY if there ever was any (& i have the utmost Respect for our FDNY Dispatchers) but at times especially busy times the Company Officer in the street does know where he is in relation to an escalating situation there is no such thing as overzealous or in subordinate .
