Cadiac Arrest/ Induced Hypothermia

Months ago a Induced Hypothermia protocol was started in our region. Anyone out there currently doing this ?

Our ER's are but no field units that I am aware in either TN or Suffolk County,NY.

Ok. We intitiate it in the field if we get a pulse back and if other citeria is met. The hospital continues on with the protocol unless there are changes to the patient's status.

   Do you use cold fluids or actually use ice.

They are starting something with the field units, will have to ask about it.
They just put out a DVD about CPR talking about Dc Savage who they saved and use of the hypothermia.

We use cold IV fluids and ice packs

Field program is going online as we speak. The added freezers to the ALS units with a iv pack in an insulated kit which is taken out and brought to the scene as needed.
