12/10/10 Interesting Day in Queens
« on: December 11, 2010, 12:06:28 AM »

Just been having a look through the jobs in Queens today & it seems the Special Units spent alot of time there this afternoon.....

13:49 Box 8446 MAJOR MVA

Squad 270
Rescue 4

13:54

Squad 288
Rescue 3

15:20 Box 5690 10-75

Squad 252
Rescue 3

15:50 Box 9152 HAZ MAT Incident

Haz Mat 1, Haz mat Batt unavailable (operating at Box 8446)
Squad 252 is assigned with second piece

15:57 Box 6715 10-75

Rescue 3
Squad 270

16:35 Box 9591 MVA with Confirmed PINs

Rescue 2 is assigned
Squad 288 is assigned
Rescue 4 becomes available and replaces Rescue 2

16:54 Rescue 3 is 10-8 back to the Bronx. Would they not re-locate a Rescue to Da Bronx or is it seen as ok as they have 2 Squads in Da Bronx??

I think there are procedures in place were if most Rescues are tied up at jobs, the quarters of Rescue 1 will be the primary place to put one of the remaining Rescues in service. If there are Two Rescues left, I think the next in service goes to Rescue 4s Qtrs. Maybe one of the dispatchers or guys on the job can verify this for us.

And yes, Queens has been a Busy Place lately.

You got it. R-4 is the first Rescue to be filled based on availablility. Left turn out of Quarters, and they head for Manhattan. Right turn out of Quarters, and onto the BQE, and they can get everywhere else.

So "FDNY150" its actually Rescue 4 that gets filled first. Then it's Rescue 1s Qtrs, correct. And thanks for the comeback.

well back in august of 2006 when fdny had 2 lodd's in the bronx, i do remember all 5 rescue companies operating at the same time. As soon as
rescue 2 took up they went to queens, and then when rescue 5 took up they went to manhattan.
