Willy D, my thoughts and prayers are with you, George D, and the rest of your family.  If he was related to you, he was by no doubt, a great man.

I understand the relationship between brothers and I understand the relationship between members on this site. To nfd 2004 I sympathize with your loss. My father-in-law died n Christmas eve after shoveling snow in Chicago. Yesterday we lost two brothers in Chicago after a roof collapse. Last night my wife suggested we not turn on our holiday lights in rememberance of those we had lost. Her call, not mine. I want EVERYONE to come home safely.

Thank you all. My brother John had a small private funeral, just the way I think he would want it. He always lived a simple life himself. Just happy with all the little things. He drove a Shuttle Bus for the Mohegan Sun Casino and he would always try to talk to the people and ask them where they were from. Sometimes there would be guys from the FDNY, and he would always ask them what company they worked in. He would tell them I have two brothers retired from the fire dept and both of them buffed the FDNY. Then he couldn't wait to call me to say "I met a guy from NY and he worked at......in the Bronx, or Manhattan etc".
Its always tough to lose a family member or a good friend. We all go through it at some point. Of course John was a Family Member AND a Good Friend. I only lived a few miles from him so I was lucky enough to see him often.
But now he's gone and I guess that Time Heals All Wounds. I believe that at some point or someday, we will all meet again in a better place. A place that is Not Temporary like some vacation resort, but something Permanent. Something much better than we have now.
Instead of loosing him after 53 years, I have to say I was lucky enough to have him for 53 years.
In addition to all of the above post, I also recieved E-mails and phone calls from several members on this site. I'll never forget your compassion and concern.

Willie:  Please accept my condolences on the loss of your brother.  Others have already expressed their feelings far better than I can . . . just remember you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers, as are all of you who have also told of your own personal losses.  And, of course, the families of the two Chicago firefighters who were lost the other day.  May they all rest in peace.

Yes Bill, the way you described your brother was almost like describing yourself and that means he was very good guy.
