All these jobs for Richmond Engine #1  8) Anyone know if they responded to either of the AH this week? I know they sometimes respond to brush fires in the 23, maybe they’re staffed more during that season. 165/85 is closer than Richmond Engine but Richmond Engine is far closer than 2nd and 3rd due units into this box. 165/85 operating alone for some time before next units arrive.

If there’s people in quarters @ Richmond that’s 1 of their 1st due boxes.

Last I heard was we have 198 engines plus the 7 squads as our Engine companies, not sure where the 121 number came from. No units are deployed to Ca. Yet.

OK - Thanks much for clarifying.

FDNY currently has 121 engine companies.  As of 7AM Pacific Time today, Monday October 16, CalFire had deployed 486 engine companies, 51 water tenders, 33 helicopters, 10 fixed wing air tankers, 86 hand crews, 94 bulldozers, and 4,495 personnel in fighting the Central LNU Complex incident, consisting of 4 fires . . . the Tubbs, Pocket, Nuns and Oakmont fires.  All together these fires covered 97,731 acres, and have destroyed 3,947 structures.  And this is only four of the 14 major fires that CalFire is fighting. Hats off to ALL of the men and women working their a$$es off trying to contain these fires. And condolences to the families of the 41 people who have died.

Just to clarify - are you saying that the FDNY has a total of 121 Eng. Co's, or that FDNY gas 121 Eng. Co's in CA ??

Apparatus / Re: Stored Apparatus is Gone!!!

The city sold the property, the former NYC*EMS headquarters, in 2014. They were on a temporary lease until the property owner needed it. Home Depot bought part of the Coca-Cola facility that surrounds the site in August for $70 million. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

I know they've been looking for a large warehouse to keep these trucks in for quite a while, especially one that would be resistant to hurricane damage and flooding. Maybe they found one?

Here's an article from 2014, which failed because the Neighborhood Association did not want it in their neighborhood: http://sunnysidepost.com/op-ed-say-no-to-the-fire-departments-plans-to-use-43rd-street-location
