Heavy fire through the roof of a 1.5-story wood-frame P/D.

Anyone else with any more info?

Round One, 00:20 AM:

2d Alarm on arrival due to heavy fire, reported to be a collier's mansion. Point Lookout, Island Park and Oceanside were at the scene. Engines from Oceanside, Baldwin, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, trucks from LC and Baldwin, heavy rescue and ambulance from Baldwin and ambulance from Atlantic Beach stood by at LBFD HQ and I believe Inwood and East Rockaway stood by at the west end.

Round 2, approx 04:00 AM

Working fire reported at same address after all companies had picked up & left.

Wow, lots of Truck Co.'s OOS, according to the photo site.

Does anyone know if TL 2372 has their new Seagrave Aerialscope yet? If so, I'm assuming it was the Ladder Co. from LBFD that was OOS.

Long Beach's 2372  has had their new Seagrave Aerialscope tower ladder for about a year now.  They had the wetdown for it last October (pics here: http://snick.smugmug.com/Fire-Apparatus/Long-Beach-Fire-Department/20141984_p5MpQn#!i=1590250353&k=SQP2gRB ). It is that unit that is now out of service . . . I don't know why, but it's been out for a couple of weeks at least. You're right, there are a lot of South Shore ladder companies out of service.  You can add Rockville Centre's ALF to the list.  They're using Oceanside's old Pierce (replaced by a 2011 Seagrave) now.
