Too bad about the restaurant. Mack's right, there are a ton of really great Italian restaurants and bakeries in Boston's North End, aptly known as "Little Italy".

Whenever I'm in Boston, I always get a great dinner there.

Rundown could be(providing no extra units were S/C and everyone was in quarters):

Box Assignment:

Engine 8, Engine 4, Engine 10
Ladder 1, Ladder 24
Rescue 1
District 3(Ops.)

R.I.T./Rehab. Assignment:

Engine 9(R.I.T.)
Tower Ladder 3(R.I.T.)
District 6?(R.I.T.)
W25(Rehab. Unit)

Yes, great Italian restaurants in the North End. My family and I would go to different restaurants when we went up to see our son when he was in college.  The lines to get into these small restaurants woukd be around the block.  We would stand out in the cold and wait, but it was worth it.

My son moved back to Boston.  We will have to go there again and celebrate  :)

Great restuarants: Go to Anthony's Pier 4 and the No Name Restaurant, also a chain Legal SeaFood. A good cab driver will get you to the No Name, back in the 70's the reservaton guy worked at BFD HQ's at Pier 4. We got great seats and great service in 1978. Unfortunately a major storm destroyed most of Pier 4. And by the way gotta go to Fanuiel Hall, great places to eat. BFD houses E8,L1 E4/L24, E10/TL3/R-1. Nice city, nice food food, fantatic jakes!! And to make Mack happy E33/L15, another great house!!!

Every time I'm in Boston, I go to Fiore's on Hanover St., about a block from BFD Engine 8/Ladder 1. Great food, great service.

There's a couple of houses around the area. Like Gumpy mentioned, BFD Engine 8/Ladder 1 in the North End, Engine 4/Ladder 24/District 3 in the West End/Beacon Hill by the Government Center, Engine 10/Tower Ladder 3/Rescue 1/Division 1(The Big House) in Downtown by South Station and the Financial District, Engine 50 in Charlestown(across the bridge from the North End), Engine 7/Tower Ladder 17/District 4 in the Back Bay, and of course, Engine 33/Ladder 15 also in the Back Bay not too far Cheers(Where Everybody Knows Your Name) and fairly close to Fenway Park.

If we're talking about can't miss restaurants while in Boston I have to mention Rino's in Eastie. Long line to get in but well worth the wait. It's off the beaten path and from what I can tell it's mostly locals as not many tourists travel to Eastie. It is on the same street as Engine 5 (I think).

Thank you from Prezza Restaurant after fire:

Yesterday at 8:23am · .."THANK YOU for all of the support that has poured in during this arduous process. We could not thank the Boston Fire Department enough. Several firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation after bravely fighting the fire at Prezza early Sunday morning.

We also wish to thank our resilient staff who has been so patient and supportive as we navigate through this transition.

A huge THANK YOU again to our patrons for your AMAZING support and kindness. We will keep you posted throughout the renovation process and look forward to opening our doors again very soon."

All the comments about Boston's restaurants are right on.  Boston is a good city to visit - 4 hours from NYC. Great walking town - lots of excellent restaurants.  Hanover St (North End) is Little Italy - festivals summer weekends.  Good seafood restaurants.  Back Bay, Chinatown, good places to eat lin Cambridge and surrounding towns.  Lots of history in harbor area, Lexington Concord - the "Freedom Trail".  Subway is the MBTA - "the T".  Good sports town to see professional and college games - except they don't have a baseball team that can beat the Yankees these days or a football team that can beat the Giants.

Mack: My team in 2004 was down to 6 outs in game 5 against your beloved Yankees. But the WORLD SERIES CHAMPION 2004 BOSTON RED SOX became the only team to overcome a 1-3 defeceit and WIN!! One of the best things about this site it connects some of the best buffs/photographers from Boston/FDNY and sometimes Chicago.

Come on Grump, you know that was fixed. How else could they have beaten my beloved YANKEES!
