I don't think dispanding Eng. 7 was from prop 21/2, in 1993 Kendell Sq. where Eng 7 was going through a major change and big business wanted them out. There was a deal made but I don't remember what it was I think it was adding a firefighter to the Engine that was first due in Eng. 7 area.

In my city prop. 2 1/2 was a disaster out of the 7 Engines and 4 Trucks we lost an Eng. and a Truck (E 5 and Lad. 1) in the year that followed there were 5 or 6 fire related deaths in Lad. 1 still area. Somerville Mass. back then had about 80 thousand people in 4 sq. miles with many three...

I am not from New York City but that area of Brooklyn seems to be very busy, not having a Ladder company in that area seems to be dangerous for the Citizens and also for the Firefighters. I am surprised that the Commissoner, or the Chief of Dept. who came up through the ranks over the years...
