    Mack Museum

I know there are more than a few Bulldog fans out there, so you might want to visit the Mack Trucks Historical Museum at Allentown PA. I visited there last year, and I thought it was fantastic. Although the exhibit and customer center are not specifically targeted toward the old Mack fire...

    "Telephone Booths"

Photos of some FDNY Seagrave rearmounts from the mid-70's show the presence of a small "telephone booth" enclosure located near the middle of the body on the officer's side. Were any members regularly assigned to this position?

Assigned Riding Positions: Engine, Truck and Rescue

Are the riding positions on FDNY rigs assigned according to the function of each specific rider? For example, on an FDNY engine, are the nozzle, backup, door and control FF assigned specific riding positions? Similarly, on truck and rescue rigs, are the riding positions also assigned by function?

Subway Straps on the Back Step

How many enginemen normally rode the back step of FDNY engines years ago? In some engine shots in Wheels of The Bravest, there appear to be 4 or 5 "subway straps"; other than the chauffeur and officer, did everyone else ride out back?

    Apparatus Bells

When did FDNY rigs last have bells? When FDNY rigs did have bells, when were they used? I seem to remember as a kid hearing E315's old WLF's pumper ringing its bell when returning to quarters from a run.

    Hose Drying Towers

Did FDNY firehouses have vertical towers in which to dry hoses? If so, when did they stop using them? I ask this because some of the older Mayor Walker-style houses (my local E315/L125 house comes to mind) had tall, shaft-like enclosures atop the rear section of their roofs.
