18 was definitely FAST as they gave that over the air, not sure if they may have been coming off another run. As for the engines I went off of Signal's feedback plus there was a previous 404 box where 33/9 were indeed second due.

    MCC1

Thanks, lots of calls going out. How does that work, does Manhattan give it to the MCC then MCC has strike teams (or something similar deployed)? It seems all calls in the area are going to the MCC, but for the remainder of Manhattan they're dispatching as normal.

    MCC1

Hearing MCC1 on the Manhattan Freq. this morning taking calls. Does FDNY have a detail set up for some reason? If so, why? Anybody know what it consists of?

    6/5/26 Queens 2nd Alarm Box 1171

Just my opinion, but time to reevaluate this system where certain units get assigned because it is their boro without regard to response times. E284 with SAT3 was closer than 324 to begin with but 324 has gets assigned because they're the Queens unit. Similarly Engine 250 would be much closer...

SQ61 would beat SQ288 here by a long shot.

    5/25/26 Manhattan 10-77 Box 1670

If I overheard correctly, just after they took up they got a stuck elevator here and then a report of smoke in the hallway so the box was re-transmitted. Don't think it turned into much

Does this actually happen though? Seems like ARC is almost always cancelled now, plus there's a second CTU to fill that gap

    5/8/26 Queens 2nd alarm Box 0945

To your point on the fact ARC was established before drones, I wonder if at some point they look at changing the ARC response policy. They could either move it up the alarm card from the 3rd to the 4th or 5th or perhaps make it special call only. It seems they're rarely used now with the drones...

    5/4/26 Manhattan 3rd Alarm Box 1791

Agree with this from the perspective of "if you have it and you may need it, send it" ... but additionally, if you look at all the bases that need to be covered at a major fire (whether from the perspective of ICS or other similar command methods), there actually aren't that many superfluous...

    5/4/26 Manhattan 3rd Alarm Box 1791

I think it's a seniority thing - they assign 421 and 422 (when needed) to deputies who have time in rank. Now, you may argue that doesn't matter, but I think that's the logic. Furthermore, if you don't like the concept of 421 you probably don't like the concept of the citywide tour commander...
