we dont play that game. car fire is a car fire. yellow cab, box truck or esu vehicle. we respond the same no matter who you are or how you act

I've been retired from the job for quite a while ... a 10-31 used to be an incinerator fire, now it's the code for an ESU truck on fire/

10-31 is now the signal given for an investigation.  Commonly (but not only) given at MVAs when PD or EMS is on scene and FD units are not needed.  This gives FD credit for the responding and investigating the incident, unlike a 10-91.

A 10-31 was formerly a clogged incinerator. It is now a non medical assist civilian run. Anything non medical. Stuck elevators, good intent calls, stuff like that. It leaves the 10-37 code for the medical stuff.
