10/5/2010 All Hands Box 5441

07:48
B53 HAS AHW FOR A FIRE IN THE BSMNT OF A 2 1/2 STRY PVT DWELLING

This must be the fire as 93rd Avenue is all residential east of 220 St

Archive tape is garbled - normal response would be

Engines: 304, 301, 251, 326,
Trucks: TL162, L150, TL160 FAST
BC: 53, 54
Rescue 4
Squad 270
DC13

That is probably a 14th Division response despite the location if the 53 is the original Batt. to respond.

I believe you are right!

According to the FDNY Operational Reference Eighth Edition on page 14:

For Division 13 the administrative area is south of the line formed by Park Lane, Woodhaven Blvd, Union Tpke, Bell Blvd, Spencer Avenue, 215th Place, Jamacia Avenue, Francis Lewis Blvd and Murdock Ave, including Rockaway and Broad Channel. The remainder of Queens north of that line is in the 14th Division.

Based on that this is definitely a D14 Box.  Essentially it looks like anything in E304's first due area is in the 14th Division.  Based on that line of demarcation even a few Boxes of E317 would be in the 14th Division.  However, BC53 will be first due at some DC13 boxes (e.g E301's northerly first due area).  Similarly, D14 responds to areas of Ridgewood in Queens where  BC28 is the first due Chief.

On the other hand Squads are assigned based on the first due area of Engine Companies - e.g. Squad 270 is assigned to E304 and E251 both in DC14's area. Similarly Squad 288 is assigned to E305 and E315 which are in DC13's area.
