Sq 252 instead of a HMTU Engine? I thought from other posts/rundowns on here that HMTU Engines were assigned and Squads were kept available as their second piece was to be kept available for tech rescue needs.

What’s the SOP/G? Is it the closest HMTU whether it’s a Squad or Engine?

I think that got mentioned of being what they wanted to kind of do, or atleast make their response size smaller, but havent heard anything about that after the plan to assign a new HMTU company stopped

I think the answer has to do with new assignments vs. a unit already on scene. From what I gather, if command requests a HAZMAT trio in addition to what is operating on scene, the dispatcher may send an HMTU engine over a squad to preserve squad availability. However, in this case, SQ252 was already on scene as a result of the 10-75 and were trained and equipped to mitigate the incident, thus eliminating the need for the trio.
