This is a box that is just about as far South as you can be in SI and NYC - Tottenville.  It is a long run for responding units, except for the 1st due Tottenville companies - E151/L76 - if in quarters.  Response times are approximate - depends on route taken, traffic, weather. Highways and VN Bridge can be congested and secondary streets slow.  Working fires in SI South Shore and West Shore are probably slowest response times in NYC.  If there is another SI job in progress, distance and times are worse.

For All Hands (w/Extra Engine-Truck):

Unit                    Distance            Time
E151/L76              .4 miles            1 min
E164/L84            3.7 miles          5-8 min
E168                  4.9 miles            7-8 min
E167/L87            5.8 miles          8-9 min
E162/L82/Bn23  6.8 miles          9-10 min
E159/Sat5          10.8 miles        14-15 min
Bn22                13.2 miles        18-20 min
R5/D8/RAC5      14.6 miles        19-21 min
Sq1                  23.9 miles        32-35 min

If above units not available:
Bn21                15.9 miles        21-22 min
Sq252              34.0 miles        45-49 min
Sq18                27.9 miles        40-45 min
R2                    26.9 miles        36-40 min

Relocations for this box:
Bn42 to Bn23    17.8 miles
L149 to L87        12.2 miles
L166 to L84        19.8 miles

Response distances above are "fastest route" map distances.  Response times estimated with average speed estimate of 45 MPH - can be much slower w/traffic or weather.  Brooklyn units also have slower return times and are unavailable for Brooklyn responses for a long period of time - just traveling to/from SI - even if they do not work at the SI all-hands.  Sq 1, for example, has a 48 mile round trip from Park Slope to Tottenville and back - and is not available for Brooklyn fires when responding to SI.  A SI Bn24 and Sq1XX would help as SI continues to develop.
