After 40 years Captain Robert Morris is retiring, his final tour as Captain of R1 is Thursday 9x. He has been the captain of R1 since 2002 and prior to that was Captain of L28 and E69, a Lt. In L44 and E42, and a firefighter in R3, L42, E62, and E60.

...                                                                              BEST OF LUCK BOB...ENJOY YOUR WELL EARNED RETIREMENT....YOU LEFT THE FDNY A BETTER PLACE.....A BIG PAIR OF BOOTS TO FILL.

That would be a great honor to follow in his fathers footsteps as the new captain of rescue-1.

What a way to eend a 40 year career.  Talk about going out with a bang!  I hope that he will have a healthy, long retirement.

With all due respect, while Capt. Morris, indeed, had a long and impressive career,  he was no better a fireman than the many I have been lucky enough to work with during my 31yr, and continuing, career. Given the time he spent as an Officer and his yrs in engines, I have probably forced more doors than him. The men who taught me, forced twice as many. My own father's Rescue resume from the 70's is more impressive than that of Morris. The difference is, nobody knows his name. He was a humble man, a great fireman, known to only the men fortunate to have worked with him. He taught me to avoid the limelight and the media, and to know that being a NYC fireman was how to feed your family, and pay the bills, not to be a celebrity...

He has a passion for the job..... he does not think he is better than anyone. Drilling , training, knowing you job and passing on what he learned is what he is about. As Chief JK said he left the FDNY (and the fire service) a better place... Thanks Capt!
