Thanks Jamie for the video.
Yes, "Memory Master", I guess we're all getting older. Back around 1969/70 Engine 58 and Ladder 26 was my first buff hangout. I guess it was a new firehouse then. I would hang out in that neighborhood because they were two busy companies and the numbered streets were easy for this small town "hick" to follow. The FDNY was new to me and watching those two units in action several times taught me a new respect for the FDNY. I remember seeing for the first time how with proper ventilation and line advancement could quickly extinguish and apartment fire. So began my learning experience and buffing hobby of the FDNY.
I wouldn't change a thing. Let me congradulate Engine 58 and Ladder 26 on their 50th Anniversary, and also to Thank those firefighters that explained to some young buff, the operations of how to extinguish an apartment fire so quickly. It was those first few years that they just showed me so much. I just hope that I was able to pass onto some of the younger members from my own much smaller dept, so of the tactics that I saw so often used.
Happy 50th .... 58 and 26.
