Thanks for the info. Yes, I heard BK tell E323 they transmitted their box.. but then I was confused when they put it over the air as a phone alarm - wouldn't that make it a box after initial? For some reason I could not hear transmissions from field units for little bit. Hope the boss is doing well.

Back in the mid 70's, 168 was our third night interchange company. I caught some good work there, not a lot, but a few 2nd alarms. On one particular night we got a run about 5 AM to the South Shore Apt. complex right off the Belt Pkwy.. I was assigned OVM that night and ascended the fire escape to enter fire apt. with the chauffer following me. As I entered, I was feeling a shock as I crossed over the radiator and wound up in the living room. I heard the FE team banging on the front door, so I went to open the door for them. As I went past a couch, I saw a man laying on it. The man was murdered with 26 knife wounds, his wife had 13 knife wounds and the Daughter in law in the bedroom was also murdered. The fire was set to cover up the murders, but fortunately didn't really take off. It was a scene that I never expected to see in that neighborhood. Word was he was a fence and that he did somebody wrong. Every time I pass that complex going to the Verrazano Bridge it reminds me of that early morning job.

I remember that story & I also remember 111 interchanging with 168 & them stopping at a “mob” bar(1717)on 86th st to pick up some libation & not realizing it was mob connected, walked out without paying. The next day the company was visited, thinking it was their guys & after clearing things up & paying for “goods” taken, called 111 & told them who they were dealing with. Crazy times, things wide open back then.
