Bloomington IL High rise fire (delayed)

Last night Bloomington crews were dispatched to reports of a high rise fire on the tenth floor of a public housing building. Firefighters encountered a heavy smoke condition from the apartment, firefighters found fire located in a stove. The occupant had placed a burning lithium inside the stove. Officials say those actions prevented a much more serious situation. Firefighters extinguished the fire and removed the battery using a fire safe container with absorbent materials.
