A mother and her daughter died in a 2-story house fire. Gary FD has suffered lay-offs and company "brown outs" for fire companies. Draw your own conclusions, this was a busy dept before the recession, but "white flight" left the city barren for tax money. Plus US Steel at Gary Works down-sized big time.
