Wayne Dolcefino is a well known investigative reporter in Houston. I think he was a high school classmate of my wife. He started as a reporter for the Houston ABC affiliate 40 years ago. He is a local world-class %!&#- stirrer. The union guys love him.
The late Sylvester Turner was the Houston Mayor from 2016 to 2025. He promised HFD firefighters a pay raise to get elected, and then turned his back on them ( no pay raise, out-of-town Chief, etc.). Corrupt- like they said about Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of War Simon Cameron; "He would lift everything but a hot stove." His Chief of Staff, and heads of Housing and Water all got a chance to bust rocks for the Texas Department of Corrections.
Also, when ex NYPD Chief Lee P. (Out of town) Brown was Houston Mayor, he moved fire equipment purchasing into the Mayor's Office. The Woman in charge of that did five years in the TDC for taking kick-backs.
