Crews from the Cincinnati Fire Department were called to Morgens Hall on the UC campus Thursday evening for a fire in a dorm room. University police were first on scene and reported seeing fire in the room. The fire was believed to have been caused by a Christmas tree and was handled quickly. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. The first due engine and ladder truck (19s) were busy on another working fire 2 miles away and dispatched 15 minutes earlier. That fire was extinguished quickly and Engine 19 was able to respond to the university fire. Shortly after the initial dispatch went out and before the incident was upgraded to working, an automated fire alarm came in at another building on campus sending the next due engine and ladder truck to that.

Units on the fire:
Engine 34, Engine 5, Engine 19, Engine 9, Ladder 29, Ladder 3, Ladder 20 (RAT), Heavy Rescue 14, Medic 19, Medic 24, ALS 34, District 2, District 1
