you're right, looking at the ann st 10-60 a few months ago 2nd squad was assigned on the major., I just thought that was dispatcher discretion for that incident.
It seems like it was transmitted either with or after the request for major matrix, as indicated by the 2nd squad on 2nd alm. 2nd squad gets assigned on the 10-60 not the major matrix.
That 8th alarm was the last fire to go above 5th alarm, that must have been the game changer??? FDNY changes very often. A couple weeks, months or years from now might see 6th 7th and above again, who knows.
Your curiosity is as good as mines, maybe one of the other fellas on here knows why. It is my understanding that 5th alarm was always officially supposed to be the highest alarm
