    Snorkel

Here is good two part Question that comes mind when I saw that construction Crain fire this morning, 1 Would a 230 foot Bronto Skylift have made a difference in attacking that fire this morning? 2 Would the Ferrara 5,250 GPM , Super Pumper 1 had made a difference in fighting the crane fire.? I...

    Snorkel

That is an interesting Question as to where they would be able to locates a 230 Bronto Skylift if the FDNY ever should buy one. As there would be weight, height and size restrictions for such a large apparatus it would really put a limit as to where it could be located. The first place to comes...

    Snorkel

Is the Super Pumper still at Engine 238 Ladder 106 in Green Point. It was there several months ago.

    Snorkel

It is ironic that when the 230 Bronto was being displayed in New York City a few years ago that it was the Toronto Fire Department that decided to buy that model. Would you know if New York City has actually made use of their Ferrara Super Pumper as of yet?

    Snorkel

Why would the FDNY get a Snorkel? The demand for Snorkels has gone down years ago and even in Chicago which is where I am from and where the first Snorkel was developed in 1958 , only uses smaller 55 foot Snorkels on our 4 Snorkel Squad companies. Chicago's last full sized Snorkel which was a...

    FDNY Ops Reference Guide

Grumpy , that is just what I ask every few years. I have been getting the Operational Reference Guide since the mid 1990s just before the New York City EMS service was transferred to the FDNY and by far that is the best book out there on the Operations of the FDNY but of any fire department that...

Chicago,IL On Duty Firefighter's Wife, 3 Children Critically Injured In Fire 3/7/2023

Yes they are normally first due and their quarters are less then a mile away. I am not not sure if the fire was "boxed" or whether is was just a working fire with an EMS plan. For the New Yorkers reading this a Still and Box alarm in Chicago would be the equivalent of a 10/75 in New York...

During August 2019 Bronto and E/One were demonstrating a 200 foot plus Aerial Platform in NYC is there a thread here about it?

Thanks for posting this relatively new photo of Toronto's new Bronto/Mack 230 foot High Platform. Well it looks like Toronto is probably going to have the Tallest Fire/Rescue Platform in North America for the time being. I know that Toronto is one of a very few cities in North America that had...

Thanks for posting this interesting footage of the High Bronto Elevating Plaforms that are being used in Madrid. I haven't been on this site for a while however I noticed that you posted it on my BIrthday.

Is the FLY Car program still operating?

If they want to decrease response times on EMS runs it would be good if they finally starrted dispatching Ladder companies os Ems first responders like they do the Engines. That would also relieve some of the Engines and reduce their workload by sharing the burden on some of Category A, B and C...

Is the FLY Car program still operating?

So did they take the new Fly Cars (that were operating until the pandemic hit) out of service and replace them all with ALS ambulances? If they took the Fly Cars out of service I would imagine that they could be used as Conditions cars for the Supervising officers?

What is the normal assignment for a person hit by or pinned under a train or a subway train?

I would imagine that for a person pinned under a train that at a minimum a Ladder , and a Rescue or perhaps a Squad would be dispatched or maybe both. Does anyone have more specific information on the dispatch policy for a person hit by a train. Are there any Engines due for manpower purposes...

Is the FLY Car program still operating?

I understand that during the height of the Pandemic the Fly Car program was suspended as they needed more transporting Ambulances on the streets. I had read that it was supposed to be temporary , so have they brought the Fly Car program back since then and are they still replacing the ALS...
