FDNYs 2nd Sections, TCUs, and Tin House

A favorite buff hangout, myself included, was under the Cross Bronx Expressway at the quarters of Engine 46/Ladder 27 (460 Cross Bronx Expressway). From 1970-1972 there was a second section to Ladder 27. There was Ladder 27-1 and Ladder 27-2, both fully staffed ladder companies

FDNYs 2nd Sections, TCUs, and Tin House

A few of the members here have been discussing the FDNY days of the 2nd Sections, the TCUs (Tactical Control Units) and the Tin House. It was a very busy time for the FDNY often referred to as "The War Years". As a buff starting out in 1968 (See topic - "My Younger Buff Years" in the History...

1/3 of all NYC EMTs and Paramedics predicted to quit this year

Unbelievable the pay those NYC EMTs and paramedics get for the job they do. They deal with some of the most dangerous conditions out there, yet they save lives and help the sick and injured on a daily basis. How about we cut the politicians pay and give more to those employees of the FDNY EMS

Memories of My Younger Buffing Days. I was sure a lucky guy to be able to see it all for myself. Every year that went by I was able to watch and learn more about fighting fires from the Best in the World - the FDNY aka "The Bravest". It was the place to be if you were into it. It helped me...
