Your not kidding this trumps some of the 10-76 & 10-77s i am all for "using Units rather than loosing them" & a 76 or 77 could unexpectedly escalate but 1 person in a chimney i am not too sure about ever using everybody....JMO.

What is a 7-215-6? 

I'm from Delaware, that is about a county's worth of equipment. And then some. :-)  The NYFD Operational Reference has been a really interesting book to read. There were nights here in Wilmington where I would have given my eye teeth for a Thawing Unit! It's really tough to pack 3" hose which has frozen to the pavement. When I suggested 30-some years ago that we buy a steam cleaner for the company to thaw hose, my Chief that I was nuts.  Then told me to go pick up some more hose. Just thinking Big City, Chief.
 
Give ya a hint...What-Where-Who.  At least that's what they taught us in proby school almost 43 years ago...lol. 
 
Was talking to a few brothers from r1 who were there. They said he basically climbed his way back out with some assitance

It goes back to the days of the "bells" but is still used today.
7 is the designation for a ladder company. 215 was the box number used. 6 was the specific ladder company, hence as posted above .... what,(ladder company) where, (box 215 in this case) who, (ladder company 6)
Sorry for the confusion my friend.
 
Ladder 25 is in the cage due to construction across from their quarters.  It is now housed at 91 engine and 14 truck is the primary company to pick it up
 
I was there too, the guy did absolutely zero climbing to get himself out. He didn't have room to move. He was in there for over an hour before we were called, if he could've climbed he would've been out.

Thanks for the info, it's always good to hear from someone who was on the scene rather than relying on the media's take.
