Captain Klauck died from the injuries he sustained while operating at the scene of an explosion at 571 Fulton Street, Brooklyn. He had received burns and head injuries and was taken to Holy Family Hospital. He was discharged after emergency treatment and, with another fireman, was driving home in his car when he died.
