Fireman Milyko suffered a fatal heart attack while operating at a five-alarm fire.


Fireman Andrew L. Milyko of Rescue 3 died while fighting a five-alarm fire in a row of twelve stores. Fireman Milyko was operating on the roof when he collapsed from the effects of the intense heat. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away. He was forty-three years old. (From "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn, 2007)

Years ago. I talked to Jack Lerch about this incident. Not only did Jack know Andy Milyko (big blonde guy), but he buffed this job. I could have sworn he told he was operating on the roof of a tenement on Southern Blvd.
