Fireman Bradley died as a result of injuries sustained the previous day while operating at a fire.
He was found dead in quarters that day.
Fireman Peter J. Bradley, sixty-three years old, a member of the Fire Department for twenty-eight years, reported for work in Ladder 53 at 5:40 for the evening tour. At 5:52 p.m., he was found collapsed in the bathroom of quarters. A doctor, who lived next to the firehouse, was summoned and he tried to save Fireman Bradley but to no avail. Fireman Bradley was married and the father of a son and two daughters and he lived at 1932 Hobart Avenue. (From "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn, 2007)
