At 8:44 PM a call was received for a possible missing swimmer, upon arrival witnesses stated a male has gone into the water 46 minutes prior, and they didn't see him come out.
Based upon the witness account Chief Ray confirmed the Water Emergency, bringing in the US Coast Guard, Nassau County Police Marine and Aviation, NYPD Air Sea Rescue, as well as Water Rescue Resources from the Lawrence/Cedarhust, Inwood, Island Park, Oceanside, Baldwin, Freeport and East Rockaway Fire Departments as well as Atlantic Beach Rescue and several members of the Long Beach Lifeguard Patrol.
After an extensive search by water and air no victim was located, and the search was terminated, the air units will continue searching.
Five other alarms including several EMS calls were handled during this alarm.
All Operations were under the command of Chief Hadrick Ray and Assistant Chiefs Marino Babich and Reinhard.
