One Person Seriously Injured in Newport News House Fire.

(Newport News, VA) – At 4:49 PM, on January 5, 2024, the City of Newport News 911 Center received multiple calls reporting a residential fire in the 90 block of Henry Clay Road, in Newport News. Newport News Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:51 PM and found heavy fire coming from the attached garage of a two-story residential home and extinguished the fire within fifteen minutes. The majority of the fire damage was confined to the garage and attic. One citizen was injured and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Four individuals were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
Additionally, one Newport News Firefighter was also transported to a local hospital and is expected to be okay. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Newport News Fire Marshal’s Office.
