Every now and then Rockaway, Queens has some work. When they do the response times are lengthy before additional units can arrive. I was once working as a Covering Captain in Tower Ladder 159 near Mill Basin Brooklyn, and we responded to a 2nd Alarm house fire in Brezzy Point Queens by the time we got there it was almost 25 minutes. Thank God for E-329 and the Brezzy Point Volunteer companies they made a great stop.
Photo Below of the "Conflagration" During Hurricane Sandy in Brezzy Point. I think, in total 130 homes were destroyed and it was the largest fire in multiple private FDNY Breezy Point Qns. 6-6 Hurricane Sandy.jpgresidential buildings in the history of N.Y. City.

besides for 4&3 and with the exception of maybe engine 314 coming in as a extra engine it will take some time for any other unit to make it in to the peninsula that's way all units must be covered at all times

I remember relocating from Brooklyn to Engine 264. Going over the Marine Parkway Bridge we informed Queens that we were on their frequency. The MDT immediately showed us 10-8 acting 264. We replied we were just crossing the bridge and the dispatcher said you're the only ones available on the peninsula despite being about 7 miles from 264's response area.

Queens 5th Alarm Box 6068 on June 17 of 2022 there was multiple water rescues going out at the same time in the rockaway peninsula and the dispatcher was asking the BC if they need everyone or else they would have to relocate a engine and truck into the area
