Update:

Accident involved two trailer trucks, one carrying 8,000 gallons of gasoline and involved a one passenger car.
Only the three drivers and somehow there were NO INJURIES

The earliest I-95 in this area will be open is Monday, May 6th.

Avoid the area.
Use Route 15 (Merritt Parkway - cars only), or I-84, or I-87.

Some companies in the area will be allowing workers to work from home.
Other companies will be staggering their work hours to help eliminate rush hour traffic
Schools in Norwalk will be closed tomorrow (Friday 5/3)

Those who might be familiar with the area (I-95 Exit 15), Norwalk Fire Headquarters is only a few blocks away
So when they pulled out the doors, they had no trouble finding it.

And now to the world of sports.......... ;)

In sports, Cubs lost to the Mets 6-7, surprised the Queens Crew knows how to pull a comeback.

" tractor-trailer and burst into a blazing fireball Thursday morning on Interstate 95 in Connecticut — melting an overpass that will now be demolished."
Didn’t something pretty much the same happen in CT a few years back

Yes - it was in 2004 when a similar crash involved a tanker truck carrying home heating oil.
It was I-95 at the Howard Ave overpass
About 14 miles away.
And the Mianus River bridge that fell in 1983,
and the Gold Star bridge closed by a tanker collision/fire last year . . .

Yes "Iggy" (fdhistorian) - I remember those too.

In the Mianus River Bridge collapse an entire large section of roadway dropped into the water.
That involved two tractor trailer trucks and two cars landing in the river below.
Three people killed and three injured.
I remember the U.S. Army putting up a temporary bridge which was used for about one year.
That also led to Connecticut increasing it's gasoline tax 25 cents more to be used to maintain our roads.
Of course now it's about 90 cents (?) a gallon more

The Gold Star Bridge incident was also a massive fire involving a fuel truck.
That was also on I-95 at the New London/Groton town line.
That incident took the life of a truck driver with police making an arrest of a civilian, the driver of a car which caused the accident, last month April, 2024 with causing that fiery crash.

Course there was also the one in Atlanta that shut down an interstate and they ended up filling in to get the interstate open again quickly and they were planning on rebuilding the bridge in sections to keep interstate flowing.

Both North and Southbound lanes are now OPEN.

As of 10 am this morning - Sunday May5th the Southbound Lanes also opened.

Reports say that it is expected to take about one year to rebuild that Fairfield Ave overpass with random lane closures on I-95 during that time.

GREAT JOB DONE BY ALL INVOLVED.
