"At 5:59 pm this evening the Long Beach Fire Department received an Automatic Fire Alarm for the Sands Beach Club in Atlantic Beach, immediately thereafter we received a call reporting a fire in the laundry room
Chief Ray was on scene within 4 minutes and transmitted a Working Fire, Engine 2344 was first due and stretched a 2" hose line assisted by the members of Engine 2342 into the building.
The fire was quickly located and water was immediately placed on the fire. Members of Ladder 2362 and 2372 provided ventilation and overhaul assisting in the quick knock down of the fire.
Multiple fans were used to help ventilate the heavy smoke from the building.
There were no injuries and the fire was not suspicious but under the investigation of the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office.
We were assisted at the scene by Atlantic Beach Rescue, Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, Inwood Fire Department, Woodmere Vol. Fire Department, and the Baldwin Fire Department.
The Oceanside NY Fire Department, Point Lookout Lido FD, East Rockaway Fire Department, Freeport Fire Department and the Rockville Centre Fire Department stood by in our firehouses in case of any other alarms.
All operations were under the Command of Chief Hadrick Ray and Assistant Chiefs Marino and Reinhard.
