"At 00:20 Hrs this morning, we were alerted for a GENERAL ALARM for a House Fire. Upon the arrival of the first responding Chief, a Signal 10 (Working Fire) was transmittal for a fire in a bedroom of a two story private dwelling. Automatic mutual aid was requested from City of Long Beach New York Fire Department and Point Lookout Lido FD who operated at the scene along with our department units.
Mutual aid was requested from Oceanside NY Fire Department, East Rockaway Fire Department and Baldwin Fire Department who stood by at our headquarters to cover the town in the event of another emergency call.
A signal 12 (Under Control) was transmitted 35 minutes later with the fire contained to the single bedroom. The fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal - County of Nassau
All operations were under the command of our Second Asst. Chief and Chief of Department. A signal 7 (release of standby units) was transmitted at 02:05 hrs with the American Red Cross notified for the family."
