What are the positions of Battalion Chiefs in the FDNY at major incidents? I know that 1st due is IC, 2nd due goes in with the men, 4th due is RUL, and 5th is SO, but I don’t know where 3rd and 6th fits in (unless 6th due is just ARC), and I’m not sure if the planning section chief on the 4-4 is a BC, DC, or a designated staff chief. If anyone could help clear this up for me, I’d greatly appreciate it! TIA!

"Assigned and covering chiefs in Battalions 4, 10, 20, 22, 26, 33, 40, 45, 54, 57 were trained to carry out the planning function, and were designated T1, T2, or T3 on the Daily Chiefs Schedule. Training/qualifcations levels are T1, T2 and T3, with T3 being the highyest Level. A planning chief was formerly assigned on certain alarms and signals, together with the IMT planning vehicle. As of 2015, both are individually special called. A Planning chief may be requested by the Incident Commander for high-profile operations, operations that may extend past two days, complex operations involving other agencies, five or more 10-45 Code 1's, or for Safety Investigations.
The planning Chief supervises the Resource Unit Leader and is responsible for situation awareness, determining specialized resources, documentation, status check in and demobilization."
Granted knowing the FDNY wouldnt be surprised if things have changed.

Better to send them, and not need them and turn them around then to no send them and be behind the 8 ball when you need them. And at least they actually turn out and respond to each job. Not like ESU that gets 3-5 jobs simultaneously (especially EDP and haz mat) per REP , takes the mark for all of them but dosent actually respond to most of them
If you don’t mind me asking, what are the differences between T1, T2, and T3? When s/c, does the dispatcher choose which level to tone out based on info received from on-scene personnel and callers? Is it chosen by the IC based on what he/she can see/hear, or is it outlined as a certain level for a specific type or category of incidents? TIA!

There is more then likely something outlined in some way but I really have no idea, that's all the book says. Someone else will probably come with the answer
