DOT Traffic cam looking north from 155. You can still see some smoke up around 178 and the Trans Manhattan. Traffic thick and slowing going north - but that is normal for this time of day LOL Screenshot 2024-11-19 at 4.23.35 PM.png

Who ever heard of this. I have over 50 years with the FDNY, and I have never seen or heard of a 3rd. Alarm for a Brush Fire in Manhattan. Yes, it is for relief, but they are telling all officers to bring their Thermal Imaging Camaras to the command post. This fire is not under control. Brothers and sisters Thermal Imaging Camaras are really great for use at brush fires. As I said the other day Tower Ladders make a great vantage point to keep an eye on the fire and Tower Ladders stream are sometimes of great value, in controlling moving fire.

Put class A foam in the Indian Tanks. They sell 4 ounce bottles by the case. 1 4 ounce bottle per 5 gallons on water. Drastic improvement in penetrating power of the water and makes water use much more efficient. Also Battery powered leaf blowers instead of rakes and shovels. Just some suggestions

Dawn dish soap works just as well in a pinch.

“{ FDNY BOX 1670 ~ MANHATTAN }”…..”{ FDNY BATTLING MAJOR 3RD ALARM BRUSH FIRE INSIDE HIGHBRIDGE PARK IN THE WASHINGTON HEIGHTS AREA OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY }”…..
What a difference the 1” forestry hose makes. So much better than lugging 1.75 double jacket hose through Bambi’s hood.

Been a long time since we've been in a drought this long. I'm surprised it got to acres before the alarm. Thank you for your 50 plus, Cap.
