Does Rescue 2 have any Queens boxes? If not, is there a good reason why not? Unless I'm missing something, looks like R2 is closer than R4 to basically all the Rockaways, no?

I know Google maps isn't perfect but interestingly at the moment it shows both R2 and R5 would be faster into Rockaway beach / Breezy point area than R4

Besides 0269 and 0037, doubt it. If I remember correctly, 4 Rescues serve Bk, R1 in the Battery Tunnel, R2 Obviously, R5 (D8 Boxes), and R4 in Greenpoint (or Williamsburg, I don't remember)

R2 is about 10 minutes faster then R4, (not including lights and sirens), R4 would be 5 minutes behind R5.

its how the boxes are assigned by the chief of special ops, rescue 4 is first due rescue 2 is second due even though rescue 2 and 5 might have a faster response time according to google maps

So the response in the Rockaways would be R4,2,5,1,3?

You sure? 3570 and 1048 came in last night but 1024 only went out once.
My mistake. I saw 1048 and somehow thought this box for some odd reason. Eother way the companies at both boxes had a busy tour.

also it is rare to see rescue even make it down there i have seen squad 270 make it to the rockaways then i have seen rescue 4 make it in

I think the rescues themselves are fiercely territorial. As in my borough my call. I remember reading in Life on the Edge, how a certain rescue Lt, in SI who later on became R2s Capt, managed to piss off R2 for successfully getting some Brooklyn boxes. At least according to how the book portrays the incident so to speak.

Like Airbus said, I think it solely depends on the Chief of Special Ops on making Rescue/Squad response districts, for sure some of them need to be changed. Them being territorial, I would believe it.

Could very well be. I've had a similar conversation at my dept more then a few times. ( We do automatic aid due to the way the city and county lines run. Closest unit responds. Alot of our guys didnt like that. Probably still dont. But its above my pay grade. The person with more gold on their collar then i had said this is how it's gonna work and that was enough for me. ) The person who picks up the phone and says I need help, doesn't care what color the truck is, or what number or name is on the side. All they care about is someone getting there 10 minutes before they called and turning an emergency into an inconvenience.

There similar boxes in Brookyn especially Sunset Park area where R5 definitely gets in faster than R2 but its R2 boxes
